Keep in mind that these gunslingers (sometimes women too) often had a distinct lack of good hygiene. What do I mean by that? Hello Bad BO!

They looked dirty at all times so to create the sense of being one of them good old western gunslingers get a little dirt on your face here and there and get some dust on your leather pants and leather vest because if you want people to believe you’re a true gunslinger then you want to look just like them.

The good news about the gunfighter outfits is that over the years their look evolved from the boots, long pants and vest to a much more sophisticated one. So depending on the era you are aiming for, the gunslingers look can be much different from one from to the other and these Gunslinger costume tips are supplied here to help you choose the perfect gunfighter costume you’re looking for.

Let me explain, as you already know the regular gunslinger look as told above is one of the main looks you will see in western movies like “Roy Rogers” or “John Wayne” but if you look at more recent western films you will notice that the western gunfighter often dresses in a suit quite like James bond would but still carries around that skunky looking mustache & cowboy hat. So always keep that in mind for any type of Gunslinger costume tips.

So which ever era you decide to dress up as, there are certain parts of a gunslingers costume that you will always need to keep in mind.

Oh, and before I forget, make sure to look mean too! The average gunfighter back in the old west was popularly known for his greedy selfish ways – they loved their money and the more money they had the meaner they got – they knew what they wanted and they went for it.

Here’s another Gunslinger costume tip – so, to dress up as a gunslinger you have to take on the character of one too! If you’re planning on dressing up like a gunslinger, make sure that you get your mustache, your big old cowboy hat, some leather cowboy boots and a nice pair of six shooters.

Those big old cowboy leather dusty pants that look like they been sitting in your closet for decades – yeah, get  those too! And of course, don’t your button up white shirt with a good old leather vest. Oh, and maybe buy a fake cigarette or cigar while at it because god knows the gunslingers loved their tobacco.

I know, I know, I’m going into too much detail and give you a few too many Gunslinger costume tips, but I mean if you’re going to dress up in a gunslinger costume a simple water gun and boots just won’t do the trick! You have to go all out for those boys.

But if you don’t want to spend too much, well then, go for that more sophisticated look, grab one of your dad’s fancy suits and slip that on, buy yourself a big old hat with your mustache and a toy gun and call yourself a Western gun fighting son of a gun!
