Even though Halloween isn’t an official holiday, I always look forward to it and my favorite character to dress up as is a “mean hombre gunslinger costume”. When you see me in my home made gunslinger costume you’ll know better than to mess with me.

My costume starts on top with a black felt ten gallon Stetson cowboy hat and ends with my shiny black cowboy boots. I tuck my black corduroy pants inside my boots and if you think that looks silly I suggest that you keep it to your self, after all I’m packing a pair of pearl handled Colt 45’s around my waist.

I strongly suggest that you not make the same mistake that many sorry “son of a guns” have made by thinking that my fancy side-arms are just for decoration. They are real and I’m not afraid to use them. Just for effect I add spurs to my boots, I like the way they jingle when I walk down the board walk heading to the saloon or up to my neighbors house to “trick or treat”.

I remember one time I pounded on my neighbors door and yelled: “trick or treat hombre”. He yelled back: “just a minute”, I said: “what, get your butt our here now and bring me some candy pronto, gringo”. As he opened the door I heard him snigger under his breath so I pulled out a pistol and pointed to my candy bag and said: “fill it up and make it snappy or things could get ugly real fast, gringo”.

I motioned with my pistol towards my candy bag and at that point I think he got the message since dumped his entire bowl of candy into my bag. Now I don’t want you to think that this was an armed robbery or anything.

Now back to my gunslinger costume. To hold my pants up I have a two inch black leather belt engraved with scenes from the wild-west. They say good things come in three so my shiney silver belt buckle has a Colt 45 pistol engraved on it. My shirt is black with pearl snap buttons and three red roses embroidered on my chest on either side of my heart.

The roses are for my darling Rose from El Paso, she is the love of my life, man what a gal she is! She loves my little handle bar mustache that I pencil in with an eyebrow pencil. And she can tell from the smell of my cigar smoke whenever I’m around too.

To finish off my costume I add my black leather vest that has long leather fringes on it that hang off the yoke across my back and chest. My vest is a real beauty and even has a special hidden pocket on the inside where I keep my chewing tobacco. I must say I cut a pretty elegant figure dressed up in my gunslinger Halloween costume and if I should decide to enter a contest I always win, folks just know that if I don’t come first, things can get ugly, real fast!
