Toddler Cowboy Costume

A good Toddler Cowboy Costume for a child would ideally be made of real cloth, linen, or a similar material that is both colorful and comfortable for the child to wear – but also easy for the parents to clean in case you wanted to play dress up again later on.

For the proper cowboy shirt, a button-up western cut long sleeve with old west design embroidered into the cuffs and a similar design would be at the collar would work well. The collar itself would be covered slightly above the design by a handkerchief of a different color or pattern.

A plush or velveteen vest of darker color would cover the shirt nicely. And a pair of Levi’s blue jeans would make an interesting match to the outfit and also give it a more contemporary and overall modern look by tucking the shirt into them.

A belt to wrap around the pants and have a bright shiny buckle with a star emblem like is seen in classic designs would also be a nice addition to your childs Toddler Cowboy Costume. And a similar embroidery pattern could be made into the jeans as found in the shirt if you really wanted to be “extra fancy”.

Perhaps even a bullet belt would would be a nice option, as well. The belt could even have holders for two toy pistols which would be of the old six-shooter variety and have bright red tips at the end of the silver guns to always ensure to others that they are toys only and not dangerous.

If you wanted you could also incorporate a trigger on the guns which produces some sort of noise or sound to make your Toddler Cowboy Costume a little more realistic. Another interesting option would be a toy gun with a smoking barrel.

What else would you need to make your Toddlers Cowboy Costume a hit? How about a pair of chaps to cover the pants, and this could be made with a simple plastic material. The boots could be black riding boots like the rangers and riders of the old west and could be fitted with accompanying spurs to match up properly for a horse riding gunfighter/cowboy effect.

The spurs could spin and be of a silver color to match the gun. It would be important to also consider choosing spurs that are plastic or softer than real metal which could be dangerous.

Oh, and don’t leave your little girls out of the fun either in case they want to be a cowboy. We have a few cowboy costumes for girls too!

The perfect cowboy hat is a necessity and you could even take it a bit farther.  How about dressing it up by adding a logo of some type to your simplistic cowboy type hat – maybe a small emblem like a western style design resembling long horns or a Sheriffs badge.

Your Toddler Cowboy Costume could then be topped off nicely with a stick horse for the child to ride.

And lastly, maybe your child could even carry their candy in a burlap sack labeled with money signs or the name of some mythical old west bank to add a little more character and detail. I can just imagine how much fun your toddler will have dressed up as a cowboy this Halloween season. Yeeeeehah!
